Buying scope

What wire and cable we buy

Seven families cover nearly everything that comes out of a North Carolina job site, warehouse or plant. If your wire is not here, ask anyway — the answer is usually quick.

Wire and cable only

This is a narrow business on purpose. We buy electrical wire and cable with an identifiable type, and we do not buy the equipment it connects to. That means no transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery or unrelated scrap — even when it arrives on the same truck as the reels.

What we do buy is below. Full and partial reels, wooden reels, spools, coils, boxed stock, new surplus, unused material, overstock and cancelled-project inventory.

Building wire & feeders

THHN, THWN, THWN-2, XHHW, XHHW-2 in copper and aluminum from #14 through 1000 MCM.

MC, AC & tray cable

Metal-clad, armored, tray cable, VFD and PLTC left over from commercial and plant work.

SER, SEU, URD & USE-2

Service entrance and direct-burial wire left over from residential and site work.

Bare & insulated copper

Bare copper, grounding conductors and insulated copper wire in all sizes.

Welding & flexible cable

Welding cable, SOOW and portable cord from shop and maintenance stock.

Control & instrumentation

Control, instrumentation, shielded, communication, fire alarm and low voltage cable.

Medium & high voltage

5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV+ EPR, XLPE and concentric-neutral cable.

Format or conditionNotes
Full wooden reelsSealed or opened, with the tag still attached where possible.
Partial reelsThe bulk of what we buy. Tell us roughly what is left.
Spools and coilsSmaller formats, usually as part of a larger load.
Boxed stockSealed boxes and opened boxes with the label intact.
New surplusBought for a job that changed, never installed.
Overstock and obsolete stockDistributor rack space that needs to go back to revenue.
Cancelled-project inventoryMaterial released from a project that will not be built.

Not on the list?

Ask. Wire types change, and a reel with a legible legend is usually worth a look even if it is not one of the seven families above. What we cannot do is quote unidentified material or material outside wire and cable.
