Welding cable is a single-conductor, fine-stranded copper cable with a flexible jacket, rated 600 volts. It is bought on 250 and 500 foot spools and cut into leads, which means most shops hold several partial spools.
Fabrication, maintenance and plant welding shops in the Piedmont and western counties are the usual source.

How welding cable is identified
- Size printed on the jacket, and the strand count if visible
- Overall jacket condition along its length
- Feet remaining on the spool
- Black or red, which matters for polarity conventions
- Whether the cable was stored in oil or outdoors
Jacket condition is the whole question
Copper inside a welding lead is almost always good. What fails is the jacket, from dragging, heat and oil. That is why we ask for photos along the length rather than just the end.
Wire and cable only
We do not buy transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery or unrelated scrap. Mixed loads are fine as long as we are quoting the wire portion.
