The four steps
1. Send what you have
The quote form asks for type, metal, gauge, voltage, conductor count, footage, reel count, weight, condition, format and loading. Fill in what you know and leave the rest blank. Photos are optional but they shorten the back-and-forth considerably.
2. We review the wire
We look at the tag, the legend and the remaining footage. If the reel is a type we do not buy — alarm wire with no markings, unidentified imported cable, mixed scrap — we say so instead of wasting your time.
3. We agree on price, pickup and payment
You get a number based on what the reel holds, plus how the material leaves: dock, forklift, or ground level. Price, logistics and payment method are settled before anything is loaded.
4. The wire leaves
We coordinate with whoever is on site so the pickup fits your crew's schedule. Reels are counted against the list you sent, so there are no surprises on either side.
What we need to price a reel
Wire pricing starts with identity. A reel of 4/0 THHN copper and a reel of 4/0 XHHW aluminum can look alike in a photo and are not the same material. The tag settles it, and the jacket legend confirms it.
- Reel tag photo, if the tag is still there
- Jacket legend or print legend close-up
- Wire type and voltage class
- Copper or aluminum
- Gauge, MCM and conductor count
- Feet remaining, or full versus partial
- Number of reels, coils, spools or cartons
- City or ZIP where it is stored

If the tag is gone
Photograph the print legend on the jacket and measure the outside diameter of the reel. Those two details usually identify the wire well enough to quote it.
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Wire type (THHN, XHHW, MC, URD, XLPE...) | Sets the material value and who will buy it from us. |
| Metal | Copper and aluminum are priced on entirely different scales. |
| Gauge or MCM and conductor count | Determines pounds per foot, which drives the whole number. |
| Feet remaining | A full reel and a 15% reel are different transactions. |
| Voltage class | Medium and high voltage cable carries insulation and shielding value. |
| Condition | New surplus, opened and pulled cable are handled differently. |
| Location and loading | Freight and handling change what a load is worth to move. |
Wire we do not buy
Keeping the scope tight is why quotes come back quickly. We buy wire and cable. We do not buy the equipment the wire connects to, and we do not run a scrap yard.
- Transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers and MCCs
- Generators, bus plugs, chillers and machinery
- Unrelated scrap metal, demolition debris or e-waste
- Unidentified or unmarked cable with no verifiable type
If your load is mixed, pull the wire aside and send us the wire portion — that part we can usually help with.
Payment and paperwork
Price, pickup date and payment method are agreed in writing before material moves. If your company needs a bill of sale or a pickup receipt for the reels, tell us at the quote stage and we will build it into the schedule.

Start with the wire details
Fill in what you know and leave the rest blank. Unknown fields are fine — we will ask the right questions instead of guessing.
