Underground service entrance cable rated for wet locations, and the same conductor used on a lot of North Carolina solar work.

USE-2 is a single-conductor or multi-conductor cable rated for underground service and wet locations at 90 degrees C. It is very often dual-rated RHW-2/USE-2, which is why the same reel shows up on service work and on photovoltaic arrays.

Solar and agricultural projects in eastern North Carolina buy it by the reel and finish with several hundred feet still wound.

How USE-2 is identified

  • The full print legend, since dual ratings are common
  • Voltage class, 600V or 2kV
  • Conductor size and material at a cut end
  • Whether it is single conductor or a factory assembly
  • Sunlight resistance marking if it was stored outdoors

Dual ratings travel

A reel marked RHW-2/USE-2 can go into a service, a solar array or a feeder. That flexibility is why the full legend matters: it determines how many buyers can use the reel, and therefore what it is worth.

Wire and cable only

We do not buy transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery or unrelated scrap. Mixed loads are fine as long as we are quoting the wire portion.

Is 2kV USE-2 bought?
Yes, and it is priced separately from 600V material.
Do you buy USE-2 that sat in the sun for years?
It is reviewed on condition. Chalked, cracked jackets are not buyable; intact jackets are.
