Type and standard
A listed assembly with a legible legend is worth more than unidentified cable of the same size, because it can be installed and inspected. THHN, XHHW, MC, tray cable and medium voltage cable are all priced on their own terms.
Conductor size and metal
Size drives value more than length at the top end: a short length of 500 MCM is worth more than a long length of #12. Metal matters just as much: copper and aluminum are different markets, and the difference is visible at a cut end.
Remaining footage
A full reel, a half reel and a short tail are three different products. Footage is confirmed from the tag, the outer wrap or a measurement, which is why an honest estimate is better than an optimistic one.
Condition
Intact jacket, dry interior, no UV cracking, no heat damage and readable print. Reel-end photos answer most of this. Condition is where most surprises live, in both directions.
Documentation
For medium voltage and for anything coming out of an institutional or utility setting, the tag and any test data matter disproportionately. Documented cable can return to service; undocumented cable is a judgement call.
What we do not do
We do not publish per-pound or per-foot prices, because they would be wrong for most reels and misleading for all of them. Send the details and you get a number for your material, with the reasoning if you want it.
